Brand journey K003

From grid to network.

We use the journey to show how the mark is built: from five points on a grid to glass and chrome. Choose a stage, or replay it from the start.

  1. 01

    Grid

    Five points set the proportion.

  2. 02

    Network

Connections turn one mark into a system.

  3. 03

    Loop

The network closes into the signature.

Background

The original mark placed five points inside a strict grid. The new system connects them: responsive, alive, and able to move from a flat signature into three dimensions.

The story starts with Andreas Berlinger’s brand guidelines for Mycelia, the network Namche belongs to: organic merged with technical: round forms crossed with angled ones into marks assembled on a strict raster, Y = X/8. Our exploration kept his measure and pushed the merge further, until the forms stopped being assembled and began to fuse. We are still iterating on it.

The mark lives on in the Brand Studio: the full story, and an editor to place nodes on the raster, watch the mark grow and export SVG or PNG.

Tools K005

Use K006

Keep it clear.

  • Keep the mark’s proportions unchanged.
  • Use Erebos on light surfaces and Selene on dark surfaces.
  • Use the Rhododendron avatar tile unchanged on light or dark surfaces.
  • Leave clear space around the mark; do not add effects or outlines.

Creative energy,
since 2006.

An early photograph from Jodok Batlogg’s collaboration with Oliver Ruhm.
From the early years of the collaboration.

The first invoice I received from Oliver landed in May 2006. I have been pleased ever since, and I have always loved paying for his services, for the creative energy he and his team add to the game.

With the rise of AI, I strongly believe that real power emerges when human creativity, curiosity, and love combine with the exoskeleton and superpowers AI gives us. Namche is built in that meeting: human judgment and care, extended by machines.

Made with “Mitch”.

The Namche identity was developed with Michael “Mitch” Marte, who recently joined Ruhm etc. as Art Director. He brings ten years of graphic design and art direction to a practice shaped by interactive and generative tools.

Namche Shadow Sans was designed and implemented by Michael Marte for Ruhm etc. The suite is based on Geist, created by Vercel with Basement Studio, Andrés Briganti, Mateo Zaragoza, and its contributors. Source | OFL 1.1
